It's also the side of the peninsula that dodges the worst of the sargassum. If your trip lands in seaweed season and the beach is the whole point, this is one of the safer bets in Cancún.

Where it sits on the Hotel Zone
Kukulcán
Coral Beach sits at Km 9.5, right at Punta Cancún — the corner where the Hotel Zone stops running east along the bay and turns south down the open Caribbean. Crucially, it sits on the north side of that corner. That single fact explains the beach: sheltered by Isla Mujeres across the bay, the water here is calm and swimmable in a way most of the strip's surf-side beaches are not.
It's also the best-connected spot on the strip. The Punta Cancún nightlife and shopping cluster — Coco Bongo, Forum by the Sea, Plaza Caracol — is a five-minute walk. La Isla Shopping Village is about 3 km south, and the airport runs roughly 20–25 minutes.
Sargassum exposure
This is the best sargassum position in the Hotel Zone, and it's the reason to book here over a similarly priced resort two kilometers south. Coral Beach's sand faces north into Bahía de Mujeres, tucked behind the Punta Cancún headland — so the Atlantic rafts that pile onto the east-facing beaches in peak season largely track past it.
Through the worst of the April–August window, the calm-water beaches at Punta Cancún and north of it routinely stay clear on days the southern strip is closed for raking. Treat that as strong odds rather than a guarantee: a big enough influx reaches everywhere, and the resort — like every beachfront property here — cleans its sand daily.
